Securing Your Facebook Account part one

More than 2.38 billion people have signed up to Facebook. In their accounts, are important information about them like their names, where they live, their educational background, jobs etc. For some Facebook users, this social media site is like an extension of themselves.

Hacking is when someone gets unauthorized access to your account, whatever their reason is.   Having your account hacked or spied can be catastrophic depending on what the hackers do with the information they get. It can damage your reputation, cost you money and even more. The humiliation that this brings has led some people to commit suicide.

How to know if your account is hacked

Whenever you see any updates in your account that was not done by you, make sure to change your password, your account is hacked!
In addition:
When you get an email with instructions on how to reset your Facebook password when you didn't try to reset your password.
When you get an email saying someone logged into your account when you haven't logged into your account.
When you see posts you didn't make, messages you didn't write, friend requests you didn't send or profile changes you didn't make.

Even if you haven't seen any of these warning signs, you can always check who has logged on to your account by accessing your Facebook privacy settings by clicking <Menu>, then <settings>and lastly <Security and login>.  The section <Where you are logged in> will list all devices (and their locations) you have used to log on to Facebook. If you see a device or location you do not recognize, its a good sign someone has access to your account.

The first thing to do if you suspect that your Facebook account is hacked is to Change your  Facebook password. And if your e-mail is added to your account such that you can log in with it, make sure to change your e-mail password as well.
