African Politics spotlight this week

Early last week, Alasane Ouattara made an announcement deciding not to run for the Presidential elections anymore. The decision of his came with a lot of appreciation from Africans and some world leaders especially French President, Emmanuel Macron who in his message to Mr., Ouattara, appreciated him for keeping his promise. This only means one thing; Mr. Ouattara had promised Macron he would not contest for the Presidency. Why would it be a promise? I just cannot answer that question yet.
Just few days after that, Guinea’s President, Alpha Conde, also decides not to re run for the Guinean Presidency. Conde’s decision came after there have been political tensions regarding some constitutional changes he was planning to execute which would extend his stay in power.
These two events happening in a very short time in former French colonies might sound like good news for Africa, but the question in my mind is, does Franc have a hand in this? And if so, what are her motives?
After Ouattara and Conde, who is next and how soon is that coming?
