Who is Daniel Arap MOI ?
Moi is Kenya's second President after independence and the longest serving President who served from 1978-2002 in succession of President Jomo Kenyatta after his demise. He was born on the 2nd of September 1924 to a poor peasant family in the Rift Valley. Mr. Moi studied in the Africa Inland Mission school before taking training as a teacher. He became a teacher at 21 and worked till 1955, he then engaged in politics and was elected parliamentarian of the Rift Valley. Mr. Moi was also part of the team which drew Kenya's first constitution in London. During his tenure in office, President Kenyatta groomed Moi to succeed him. Daniel Arap MOI On the 1st of August, 1982, a coup was attempted by air-force personnel backed up by University students to oust President Moi but the military and police quickly pushed back.
